Ah yes.....puppies

Its been one week now since we began puppy watch 2009! Last Monday 2-16-09 at 10:30a.m. Zoi whelped 8 little puppies in 2 hour periods throughout the day and finally ending around 10:15p.m. that night, wow 12hrs. Of the 8 whelped, 7 are healthy and lively while one was still-born and did not make it;( We have 3 yellow, 3 black and a chocolate female. Only two males out of the entire group as well. As of this weekend we are doing very well with having most of them spoken for. Only the two males (yel/blk) remain avaialable.

They are growing very very fast from 12-14oz. birth weights to 28-29oz. in just 6 days. Wow! The first 48hrs was critical that we monitor their feeding, warmth and motherly care. We report still that all is well and Zoi is an outstanding mother though Jenn believes she is ready to get back out training after watching Holly leave each morning to run in a local hunt test this weekend. Within the next 10 days the puppy's eyes and ears will open and they will really begin to find their footing in the whelping box. Its been a week of scattered sleep at night while keeping an eye on Luke and the other on our grand-pups. I'm not sure the nights of the next 7 weeks will be any more full of sleep.

So far this has been a very neat/cool/awesome experience. We'll find out through the next 7 weeks if it is really as neat/cool/awesome as we first believed.

Keep checking in on us FL-Raulie's from time to time as Luke continue's to develop into the 'lil man Jenn so names him. He will be 10 months old this coming week.
